St. Petersburg Airport (IATA: PIE) is an option only fifteen miles away, generally functioning smaller routes and discount airlines. A bit further away is Sarasota International, providing proximity to wonderful Gulf beaches to the south of Tampa. By train Amtrak station of Tampa is situated at 601 Nebraska Avenue in downtown Tampa. The Silver Service and Palmetto trains operate daily from New York City or Miami to Tampa. The train journey through Florida provides beautiful views, but be aware that the timetable are often more of a proposition than a reality. By car Tampa is well accessible via the major interstate highways, I-75 between north and south, and I-4 among the east. From either highway, exit onto I-275 to reach Tampa. Get around HART is local bus service of Tampa which operates numerous routes about the region. Tampa also possess the TECO Line Streetcar that operates from downtown to Old Hyde Park and Ybor City. Tampa is, Even so, primarily a driving city and you will notice that transportation will be much easier if you possess access to a car. |
