Going away on holiday, whether it's with your friends, family or on your own, can be the highlight of your year. As the old saying goes, 'the world is your oyster' and this cannot be more true in today's technological world, where we are able to book a holiday affordably online and be flying off to other side of the world the next day. The ease with which we can now travel means we are travelling more than our ancestors. If you are on the lookout for your next holiday but are lacking in ideas as to where to go, look no further. Here are a handful of the most popular holiday destinations for us Brits in the UK.
If you are looking for sunshine and fun then you will be guaranteed both in Orlando, Florida! Florida is home to Walt Disney World and so many other exciting theme parks and places to visit (think harry Potter world and Epcot). If beaches are more your thing, then Orlando has a whole bunch of them and their accommodation here is very family friendly. You will always be sure of a warm welcome in the sunshine state!
Outside of Florida
Disneyland Paris offers so much for people of all ages- the stereotype of Disney being something just for kids goes out the window when you walk through Disneyland and become immersed in its magic and thrilling rides. It is also increasingly becoming a popular destination for hen and stag dos as it offers adults to experience something fun and adventurous and makes a change to simply going on a spa weekend. Make sure you go off season in order to get the best deal when it comes to prices. If you drive, also consider taking your car as you can also benefit from driving to nearby villages and towns in the area that surrounds Disneyland too!
Ibiza has got itself a reputation for being the party capital of the world and indeed it does offer people a great opportunity to see world class DJs perform in fantastic venues. However there is another side to this Spanish island and few people know about it. The southern part of Ibiza is quieter than San Antonio (where all the nightclubs are) and offers the perfect opportunity to relax and soak up some sun. Be sure to visit Ibiza's old town to really get an authentic feel for this beautiful island.
Mallorca is always topping the list when it comes to an affordable and thoroughly enjoyable holiday destination. It has wonderful beaches and scenic mountains too, so there is something for everyone here. Thrill seekers can take part in hiking, biking and water sports whereas beach bums can enjoy the fabulous food and white sands at their leisure. You may be surprised to know that much of Mallorca remains rather underdeveloped, so be sure to venture outside of your accommodation to get a better feel for what Mallorca is all about!
Remember your paperwork
No matter where you choose to visit this year, make sure you always arrange the appropriate paperwork before you travel. If you are travelling to Europe you will need to look into renewing the E111 card you may already have, for example. Check the expiration of all your travel insurance and your passport so that.
